Alain Magallon at The Gherkin

27 July - 30 October 2014

Magallon was born in Paris in 1962. He graduated from Beaux arts Montpellier in 1985 and has since gone on to exhibit, with great success, at numerous galleries and exhibitions. The artist has highly varied aesthetic taste. He likes to experiment within his images, both in subject matter and technique. This wide visual appreciation is apparent in Magallon’s broad artistic inspirations.  His practice is heavily influenced by both Pop art and religious imagery, ranging from the Seventeenth Centaury to the present day. Threads of Baroque, the Pre Raphaelite’s and the Surreal are also apparent in his highly finished mysterious acrylic and oil paintings.
Painting is seen by Magallon as an ‘opening of an emotion’.
