GX gallery is proud to launch Ed Gray’s new book about his work from 2008-2012 which covers his re-locations to Mexico, New York, Tokyo and Bangkok as well as his London work.
The accompanying exhibition will be a second chance to see Gray’s Londonessence:Adoration exhibition and will run for two weeks. The lower gallery will display other work and prints featured in the book Rock of Eye as well as a recreation of his studio.
Broadcaster and writer Robert Elms has very kindly written the foreword to the book and here’s a taste from his piece entitled ‘Songs of the Cities’:
‘The real magic of his work though is that he doesn’t seek to tame the city. Ed’s art doesn’t freeze the teeming streets, but unleash all their kinetic wonder. These are not still lives, but motion pictures. And if Ed paints movies, to me they are musicals; buzzing with jazz and the glorious accidental choreography of crowds’.
Ed Gray was recently honored by BBC London 94.9FM Robert Elms Show when he became a Listed Londoner. Listen again HERE
